About a year ago I bought a New Zealand classic two person sailing dinghy: a Des Townson designed Mistral. She was built in the 50s or 60s - I don't know exactly yet, something to find out. After I finally managed to get her transported from Mangawhai to Wellington I have started restoring her. She is two skin cold moulded, probably from tanalised pine. She will need total refinishing and may need her deck replaced: she at least needs some deck repairs.
I started taking the hull paint off last night with an electric heat gun: it has worked very well. I finished one side today.
